Cause determined in wildfire east of Horsetooth Reservoir that injured firefighter

DENVER (KDVR) — Investigators have determined the cause of a wildfire that injured a firefighter and prompted mandatory evacuations east of Horsetooth Reservoir.

The wildfire, named the Ponds Fire, ignited April 23 on the west edge of Fort Collins after a power line came loose from its insulator and then came into contact with another power line, according to Poudre Fire Authority on Wednesday.

The wildfire burned 8.4 acres and sent one firefighter to the hospital with second-degree burns.
