Nail spill pops tires of 20 drivers on Highway 34 in Greeley

GREELEY, Colo. (KDVR) — More than 20 drivers were left with flat tires after nails spilled onto eastbound Highway 34 in Greeley, forcing a temporary road closure and leaving motorists facing costly repairs.

According to police, the debris was reported Monday on Highway 34 between County Road 17 and Promontory Parkway. Authorities shut down the eastbound lanes while crews worked to clear the roadway.

The source of the nails remains unknown, police said.

Greeley police said street sweepers were used to remove the debris and the highway has since reopened. Because investigators have not determined where the nails came from, police said they are unable to assist drivers in filing claims against a responsible party…
