The Longmont City Council is scheduled to hold a closed-door executive session meeting on Tuesday to receive legal counsel as they weigh whether to throw support behind the town of Superior in its lawsuit against Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport over the “negative impacts caused by incessant aircraft operations utilizing the airport.”
The airport is owned, operated and sponsored by Jefferson County. Superior and Boulder County jointly filed their suit in 2024 “in an effort to protect residents from the nuisance caused by these flights,” according to Superior’s official government page.
In March of 2025, the Boulder County District Court dismissed the lawsuit, prompting Superior to appeal. In March of this year, the Colorado Court of Appeals reaffirmed the dismissal.
