Niwot’s Rocco Culpepper, the Longmont-Times Call boys track and field athlete of the year, and Ethan Rathke, the Daily Camera’s honoree, led 45 athletes on CHSAA’s all-state list for boys track and field.
Culpepper (recognized for his performances in the 800, 1,600, 4×400 and 4×800 at the state meet) won 11 track titles over his career, and was one of nine Niwot athletes named to Class 4A’s first team.
The Cougars went on to win their fourth all-time boys team title, all coming since 2019, and also featured 4A first-teamers Joshua Archuleta (400, 4×200, 4×400), Jackson Bates (4×200), Townes Bernstein (4×200), Ryder Keeton (3,200, 4×800), Jaydan Martinez (300 hurdles, 4×200), Corven Peterson (4×800), Kingston Staton (4×400) and 2026 Gatorade boys track and field athlete of the year, Quinn Sullivan (4×400, 4×800, 800). Other locals on the team included Skyline’s Miley Davis (triple jump) and Logan Mault (pole vault).
The 3A first team was led by Rathke (pole vault, long jump) and teammate Gavin Flanagan (pole vault). The 5A first-teamers included Broomfield’s Donovan Brooks (shot put) and Andrew Heuton (800), as well as Monarch’s Thomas Cole (pole vault) and Abbott Lockwood (100). In 2A, it featured Twin Peaks Charter’s Micah Arndt (110 hurdles) and Lyons’ Will Dumbauld (100, 200).
The second team in 5A included Broomfield’s Alberto Cedillo (discus), Alexander Darby (110 hurdles), as well as Boulder’s Andrew Gilbert (110 hurdles) and Centaurus’ Charlie Taylor…
