Estes Park postpones annual Independence Day fireworks show

Estes Park has postponed its annual Independence Day fireworks show over Lake Estes because of increasing wildfire danger and limited regional firefighting resources.

Town officials, in consultation with the Estes Valley Fire Protection District, said the decision was based on changing wildfire conditions over the weekend, an unfavorable weather forecast and deployment of firefighting crews and equipment to active wildfires elsewhere in Colorado. A new date for the fireworks display will be announced when conditions improve.
