The Colorado State University College of Agricultural Sciences celebrated the legacy of legendary CSU cattle nutritionist John Matsushima last week when it named livestock facilities at a Fort Collins research center in his honor.
The Dr. John K. Matsushima Livestock Research and Teaching Complex is at CSU’s Agricultural Research, Development and Education Center, known as ARDEC.
Matsushima grew up on a family truck farm near Greeley and attended Colorado A&M, now Colorado State University, to earn a bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry in 1943 and a master’s degree in animal nutrition in 1945 – often in the face of bigotry aimed at people of Japanese descent during World War II…
