Another Railroad Crossing Upgrade to Shutdown 57th in Loveland

It’s that time of year in Colorado when many cities and towns are getting road projects done before it turns snowy and cold. Loveland needs to shut down a stretch of the heavily traveled 57th Street due to the railroad crossing.

Why is 57th Street Shut Down in Northwest Loveland, Colorado?

According to a press release from the City of Loveland, the railroad crossing east of Taft needs to be upgraded, much like the one along 4th Street in Downtown had to be in September. Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway crews, in coordination with the City of Loveland Public Works Department, will be replacing aging panels that are deteriorating.

The full closure (eastbound and westbound) from October 5-8, of 57th Street will be between Duffield Avenue and the area of Chestnut Drive (by the Meadowlark Mobile Home Park), causing hundreds of travelers each day to maneuver the detour that they’ll have set up. They’ll probably have folks taking either 71st Street to the north or 37th Street to the south to travel east/west…
