She was an international star whose life descended into an emotional pit of despair that involved drugs, and jail time. She died from an accidental morphine overdose on July 3, 2015, in her hometown of Greeley, Colorado, where she was born only 42 years before on July 8, 1971. Her name was Amanda Peterson, and this is her tragic story.

In the “Big ’80s,” Amanda Peterson was a star, riding the whirlwind of the hit teen movie, Can’t Buy Me Love. Shortly before her sad demise, she had been planning a comeback, including a potential biography. But none of that ever happened.
Peterson just could not pull her life together. Her past achievements were lost in a mounting sea of trauma, trials, and tribulations.
In her youth, Peterson, the daughter of Dr. James Peterson, an ear, nose, and throat specialist, and Sylvia Peterson, was a dedicated student. She had attended University High School in Greeley, Colorado; Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont; University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado; and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.
