Fort Collins’ old Bed Bath & Beyond building might not be empty for long: What we know

A grocery store plans to open in the vacant Bed Bath & Beyond store on South College Avenue, according to a development review application filed Wednesday with the city’s planning department.

The application does not name the grocer, but the 67,000-square-foot building is on the small size for a King Soopers, which is building a 123,000-square-foot store at the corner of Drake Road and College Avenue.

Bed Bath & Beyond closed in mid-2023 after more than 20 years at 110 W. Troutman Parkway after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

According to the application, exterior improvements will be limited to updating the color scheme on the facade to align with the proposed use’s brand identity and new signage.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
