Amtrak train derails in Colorado

KEENESBURG, Colo. — An Amtrak passenger train derailed Monday night in northeast Colorado.

Amtrak said its Train 6 derailed in Keenesburg around 10 p.m. Monday.

The train derailed after making contact with a truck that was obstructing the tracks and all passenger cars remained upright, according to Amtrak. There were 69 customers onboard with no reports of serious customer injuries.

The train was serving on the California Zephyr route between Chicago and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Keenesburg is located about 45 minutes northeast of Denver on Interstate 76.
