Loveland Tries To Get A Handle On Homelessness

Loveland conducted its yearly Point-in-Time (PIT) count this week, a formal estimate of unhoused residents. The Loveland Reporter Herald reports the yearly PIT count is conducted around the country and aims to estimate the number of people experiencing sheltered or unsheltered homelessness on a single night in January. This year’s counting started at 3 p.m. Wednesday and lasted through the Community Kitchen’s dinner hour until 6:30. In exchange for their answers, respondents were offered a bag of chips, a bottle of soda and a pair of socks, even if they didn’t take the full survey.
