CVS will close a Fort Collins pharmacy in February: What we know

CVS will close its pharmacy in the downtown Target, 460 S. College Ave., at the end of the month. The decision is part of the nationwide closure of up to 900 stores.

Customers were notified of the impending closure by text message Thursday afternoon. Prescriptions can still be filled at CVS inside the Target at 105 Troutman Parkway or at the SuperTarget in Front Range Village on Council Tree Avenue.

“We’ve made the difficult decision to close the CVS Pharmacy in the Target store at 460 S. College Ave. in Fort Collins on Feb. 28,” CVS spokesperson Amy Thibault told the Coloradoan in an email. “All prescriptions will be transferred to the nearby CVS Pharmacy in Target at 105 W. Troutman Pkwy to ensure patients have uninterrupted access to pharmacy care. Patients can always choose to fill their prescriptions at any CVS Pharmacy, or the pharmacy of their choice, if another is more convenient.”

Employees at the Target CVS are being offered comparable roles within the company, Thibault said.

The closures are part of CVS’ plan to shutter roughly 900 — or 10% — of its stores. The pharmacy chain has closed about 600 stores since 2022 and expects to close the remaining 300 this year.
