DENVER (KDVR) — Police in Fort Collins took to social media to talk about two separate incidents of what they called “dangerous driving behavior,” where drivers went over the speed limit.
In one instance, a driver was caught going 81 mph in a 40 mph zone — 41 mph over the speed limit.
“For those of you unfamiliar with Fort Collins, nowhere in the city limits is the speed limit 81 mph…” police said on X , formerly known as Twitter.
“How fast can I go over the speed limit before I get pulled over?” CSP responds
Another driver was caught going 70 mph in a 45 mph zone, or 25 over the limit.
FOX31’s sister station in Colorado Springs spoke with Colorado State Patrol, who said any amount over the speed limit can potentially result in a citation from them.
Speeding was also the leading factor in crash deaths and injuries in 2023, according to CSP data .
CSP looked at 2,722 crashes with speeding listed as a factor, and in 651, speeding was the leading cause.
