BillGO announces 80 layoffs at Fort Collins office

This story has been updated to reflect the Fort Collins office will remain open.

BillGO, a financial technology company that billed itself as a new way to pay bills, plans to lay off 80 people at its Fort Collins office by the end of March.

BillGO filed a notice with the state under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN, that requires employers to give 60 days’ notice before the layoffs.

General counsel Gregory Cannon said the layoffs at the company’s Fort Collins headquarters, 3003 E. Harmony Road, as well as remote workers in 15 other states would be permanent, citing “a material change” in its current business opportunities, according to the WARN notice. The layoffs are expected to be completed March 31.

The bulk of the layoffs are engineers, according to the list provided to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

BillGO processes same-day bill payments so customers can avoid late-payment fees and companies can process payments without managing paper checks. BillGO estimates on its website that it has 32 million customers. It was named the best place to work and best startup employer by Forbes, Fortune and Inc. in 2021.
