Denver could forge migrant partnership with Fort Collins, Grand Junction, mayor says

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston said during the mayor-council meeting Tuesday that Fort Collins and Grand Junction have expressed an interest in helping Denver with the migrants.

“There are some places that have been very supportive,” Johnston said in response to a question by council member Shontel Lewis. Lewis had asked, “How is work going regionally? Are other cities near or around us interested or willing to participate? How is that going?”

Johnston said he would brief the council in more detail in the future, but added, “I want to shout out both Grand Junction and Fort Collins have been very open to partnerships on this and want to see how they can do that.”

Johnston did not mention cities close to Denver showing an interest, such as Lakewood, Aurora, and Boulder. He said the Metro Mayor’s Caucus put out a letter of support for such partnerships.
