The new roundabout at the intersection of Weld County Road (WCR) 74 and 33, west of Eaton, is now open. The project was completed by WW Clyde, who took over from Lawson Construction in October. The project was finished 13 days ahead of the revised deadline of February 21, 2024, despite initial delays.

Over four months, the contractor completed concrete paving, curb and gutter work, drainage work, and tie-in work. They also installed signage and striping and worked extra hours to finish the project on time.

Kevin Ross, Weld County Commissioner Chair, was pleased with the project’s outcome. He acknowledged the project’s length may have been frustrating but emphasized the end result was worth it. He also praised the Public Works department for managing the project despite initial challenges.

During the construction, Xcel Energy installed a streetlight system. The roundabout was built to last 30 years before major maintenance is required and is wide enough to accommodate regular traffic, large trucks, and agricultural equipment.
