The Larimer County Assessor’s Office completed a property damage report from the Alexander Mountain Fire on Aug. 4. The report found 52 homes were damaged or lost.

The figure includes 27 destroyed homes, 21 outbuildings and four damaged homes.

Reduced property value for homes damaged in fire

The assessor said that owners impacted by the fire could see reduced property values, which will reduce taxes as they attempt to rebuild.

“In the months ahead, my office will continue to study damages in the Alexander Fire burn scar for any valuation adjustments on impacted properties,” said Larimer County Assessor Bob Overbeck in a press release. “We’ll also be there to assist homeowners while they rebuild.”
