Are you interested in learning how to distinguish between bird calls and songs?

The Larimer County Department of Natural Resources will hold a “Campfire (Bird) Songs” event at Hermit Park Open Space on Aug. 31 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., where participants can explore recordings of local species and learn about “the fascinating world of bird communication.”

“Whether you’re a seasoned birdwatcher or a curious beginner, this evening promises to deepen your appreciation for Hermit Parks feathered residents,” the county’s website says .

The event is free but registration is encouraged and a parking permit is required. The county also recommends wearing layers and bringing a flashlight/headlamp.
