Windsor adding 8 pickleball courts to meet growing demand of popular sport

The town of Windsor is doubling down on its pickleball courts with the addition of eight new courts under construction.

The town is adding the courts at its Highlands Meadow Park, 7985 Highland Meadows Parkway, in west Windsor.

The budgeted cost for what the town is calling “state-of-the-art” pickleball courts is $450,000, according to the town’s Project Connect website . It states the courts will address the “increasing demand” for the sport.

The Project Connect site says completion of the courts will be in fall of 2024.

The town has eight existing outdoor courts at Main Park, 300 Locust St., in downtown Windsor. Those courts are open to the public and are free for drop-in use from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Those who want to reserve a specific time at those courts can do so April through October for $10 per hour. Reservations can be made by calling the Community Recreation Center front desk at 970-674-3500.

The town’s recreation center also has indoor courts available for play.
