Exploring Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP), one of the crown jewels of America’s national parks, boasts over 415 square miles of protected wilderness, and some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Colorado and the United States as a whole. From the towering peaks of the Continental Divide to alpine lakes, wildflower meadows, and dense forests, the park is a sanctuary for outdoor enthusiasts. The town of Estes Park is the gateway to RMNP, and has plenty of sites and activities, historic landmarks, restaurants and lodging, and entertaining festivals and events.

A few years ago I spent a jam-packed week with friends visiting some of the best places in RMNP and Estes Park. We hiked numerous trails to Alpine lakes, took awe-inspiring scenic drives, visited historic sites, and enjoyed local restaurants and craft beer.

Estes Park, the Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park

Most visitors to RMNP will start their stay in the charming town of Estes Park, located 64 miles northwest of Denver on the front range of the Rocky Mountains. The town beckons travelers with its stunning landscapes, outdoor adventures, and a rich tapestry of local culture. As the gateway to RMNP, Estes Park has a plethora of lodging, restaurants and entertainment to satisfy everyone. We stayed at my Worldmark timeshare, located in an attractive and peaceful setting on the outskirts of town on the Big Thompson River.
