Colorado’s Pearl Fire at 90% containment and all evacuations have been lifted

Containment on the Pearl Fire has reached 90% and all evacuations due to the fire have been removed, according to officials.

The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest announced in a Sunday morning news release the 128-acre wildfire 50 miles northwest of Fort Collins was at 90% containment and that the county removed all evacuation orders.

The post said smoke and flames will remain visible from the interior of the fire within established control lines and firefighters will continue to staff the area as long as weather conditions allow.

It also said the number of personnel on the fire has decreased significantly over the last two days. A cold front that has moved over the fire area has brought cooler and wetter conditions that will continue into Sunday.

The forest service said Sunday’s announcement would be its last for the fire.

The fire was first reported at 11 a.m. Sept. 16 on private land 5 miles northwest of Red Feather Lakes. It quickly spread to nearby Roosevelt National Forest land.
