Celebrate 50 years of Fort Collins history keepers at this free, ’70s-themed event

Celebrate Fort Collins history in 1970s style with a free themed presentation at Fort Collins Museum of Discovery.

The Archive at Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is celebrating 50 years. After starting as a grant-funded oral history project in 1974, the local archive has grown to house more than 400,000 historical photos and documents and more than 40,000 three-dimensional objects as part of its collections, according to the museum.

The archive will celebrate the milestone with a presentation from 7-8:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in the museum’s OtterBox Digital Dome Theater. The event will include audio recordings, personal memories from the oral history project, and “a groovy visual tour” of Fort Collins images and events from the 1970s.
