Human remains found northwest of Lyons, death considered ‘suspicious’

DENVER (KDVR) – The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that unidentified human remains were found northwest of Lyons. The death of the person is considered suspicious, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office said it received a call shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday about possible human remains that were found in the 1000 block of Blue Mountain Road. The road is also known as County Road 71 North.

The area is in unincorporated Boulder County.

When deputies arrived they were able to confirm that the remains were human. The gender of the body was not able to be determined because of the condition of the remains.

The sheriff’s office said that there was no reason to believe there was a threat to public safety, despite the death being considered suspicious.

They also said there was no indication that “this death is related in any way to the other recent death, ” being investigated.

The other set of remains, which were still unidentified as of Tuesday, were found as a result of the Stone Canyon Fire in early August.
