We are still in the middle of an elk rut, which means that elk in Colorado are more aggressive. Unfortunately, that has not stopped tourists and others from acting stupid. Whether people are unaware of the dangers of approaching elk in Estes Park and other Colorado communities, or they simply disregard them, they are putting themselves at serious risk by doing so.
