Old Town fatal shooting suspect extradited to Colorado, bond set at $5 million

Bond has been set for the man charged in the fatal shooting of a man in Old Town Fort Collins in August.

On Aug. 11 at about 1 a.m., 31-year-old Keiter Baez Morales of Fort Collins was fatally shot in a parking lot at 215 Remington St., according to Fort Collins Police Services. A woman was also shot and injured. Police said they believe the shooting occurred after a dispute between two groups.

Investigators interviewed witnesses and used video surveillance to help identify a suspect, and they asked for the public’s help in locating the suspect in the days following the shooting.

About a month after the shooting, police announced they identified 35-year-old Tylen Grays as the shooting suspect. Grays was arrested in Michigan and extradited back to Colorado, where he appeared in court for the first time Tuesday.

Grays has been charged with first-degree murder, a Class 1 felony; attempted murder, a Class 2 felony; first-degree assault, a Class 3 felony; felony menacing, a Class 5 felony; tampering with physical evidence, a Class 6 felony; and prohibited use of a weapon, a Class 1 misdemeanor.
