In September 2023, we excitedly shared the news that a Chicago-based restaurant, Portillo’s, was looking to expand to Colorado. A year and a half later, it looks like we may just have the beloved Chicago Dog spot sooner rather than later.
Years ago, my first trip to Chicago was an eye-opening culinary experience of all things from the Windy City. However, one delicacy stuck with me and I craved it ever since. The Chicago Dog is easily one of the most famous hot dogs in the world. While many try to pull off a replica of the Chicago Dog, it just isn’t the same.
A real estate agent for LIV Sotheby’s International, Mariel Megan Ross, posted on Facebook on March 6, that Portillo’s is not only looking to expand into Colorado with a single location, but three.
The post says that Portillo’s is looking at numerous locations and plans have been submitted to at least two locations within the Denver metro area recently.
Where Will the First Portillo’s in Colorado be?
According to the Facebook post from Mariel Megan Ross, plans for two locations have been submitted. The first in Littleton, Colorado, off of C-470 and Broadway in the new Mineral Place development.
The second Portillo’s location is much closer to all of us here in Northern Colorado. While it may still be in the Denver metro area, Thornton is a lot closer than Littleton. The plans for a location in Thornton appear to be located off of Interstate 25 and 136th Avenue, next to the Thorncreek Golf Course…
