(PUEBLO, Colo.) — A suspect is dead and three officers are stable following an officer-involved shooting near Bessemer on Tuesday evening, March 18.
According to the Pueblo Police Department (PPD), officers originally responded around 7:15 p.m. to a shots fired call near the intersection of West Mesa Avenue and Cedar Street, after reports that an officer had been shot. Officers with PPD and deputies with the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) responded, and once on the scene, additional gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and law enforcement.
PPD said the suspect then ran from the scene while continuing to fire shots at officers. Officers returned fire, and the suspect was injured in the exchange. Officers provided emergency medical attention, but the suspect was declared dead on scene…
