Colorado – In a harrowing case of domestic violence in Colorado that ended in a senseless murder, a 45-year-old man, identified as C. Hernandez, was sentenced to 60 years in prison for the murder of his 44-year-old girlfriend, identified as K. Bedoya, and for assaulting her adult son. The sentencing took place last week, on Tuesday, and marked the conclusion of a case that has shaken the community.
On the evening of February 24, 2023, Hernandez committed an act of violence that would devastate a family. He fatally shot his girlfriend, with whom he had been involved in a romantic relationship with for 10 years, while she was watching television on her couch next to her 2-year-old grandson. The District Attorney’s Office stated that the murder was particularly brutal—Hernandez fired 4 shots at close range, striking Bedoya, then escalated the violence further by attacking her son.
According to the prosecution, after Hernandez shot Bedoya, her adult son, who was in the basement at the time, heard the gunshots and ran upstairs. He was then strangled by Hernandez until he collapsed. In a disturbing turn of events, Hernandez abducted the young grandson, placed him in his vehicle, and fled the scene.
