Colorado at the ‘epicenter’ for ‘risk of heavy snow’ that’s possible this weekend

Following big snow that’s expected to hit Colorado from March 31 to April 3, another round of significant snowfall could hit the state later this week, as indicated by the National Weather Service’s ‘risk of heavy snowfall’ outlook.

As seen on this ‘experimental’ mapping product, nearly the entire state could get ‘heavy snow’ between April 5 and April 6, with the exception of a small sliver of land in Colorado’s southeast corner. If this snowfall scenario comes to fruition, it could follow a storm that has potential to drop up to 24 inches on parts of I-70 . Lingering impacts of this initial storm could mean an increased likelihood of hazards for weekend travelers.

Spring is here and snowfall is likely to wind-down in upcoming weeks, but it’s looking like there’s at least one last period of wintery weather that’s expected to hit the state…
