Police: Suspect wanted for causing over $35k in damage to speed camera

DENVER ( KDVR ) — Police are offering a reward for help identifying a suspect who allegedly caused over $35,000 worth of damage to a speed camera in Longmont.

The City of Longmont Department of Public Safety posted Friday that anyone with information leading to the identification and arrest of the wanted person or persons could earn a $2,000 reward.

The city said the damage was a result of two separate incidents, which were caught on camera . The city said it appears that several drivers may have paused to look at the suspect.

A video shared by police shows the first incident in the 2600 block of Mountain View Avenue west of Hover Street around 7:03 p.m. on March 14. The video shows a person on a bicycle approaching the camera before the camera view begins shaking for about 27 seconds. The city said no damage was caused during this incident.

Another video from March 24, around 10:37 p.m., shows a person walking up to the speed camera in the same area. The person appears to be touching the camera.

The city did not clarify what kind of damage was done but said it was $35,000 worth…
