The 22 Drunkest Counties in Colorado May Surprise You

Colorado is home to nearly 400 breweries across the state, showing off our love for craft beer. In a recent story from the Greeley Tribune, Colorado was ranked as the 11th drunkest state in America.

Colorado Counties With the Lowest Excessive Drinking Totals

As you may have noticed in the gallery, Colorado’s ‘driest’ county is Costilla County. Only 14.63% of residents are excessive drinkers there. Per Intoxistates.com, Colorado counties with some of the lowest levels of overconsumption include: Huerfano (15.82%), Custer (16.39%), Otero (16.39%), Sedgwick (16.39%), Pueblo (16.41%), Delta (16.48%), Conejos (16.59%), Las Animas (16.63%), Phillips (16.65%).

How About Colorado’s Neighboring States?

If 21.41% of Coloradans drink in excess, how does this compare to our neighboring states? Here’s a quick look at all six of our neighbors:

  • Wyoming: 19.4%
  • Nebraska: 22.1%
  • Kansas: 18.32%
  • Oklahoma: 13.82%
  • New Mexico: 15.79%
  • Utah 12.41%

Looks like Nebraska is the only state able to hang with Colorado in the not-so-drunken ‘Mountain West”. According to Intoxistates.com, the state of Wisconsin has the highest number of residents who drink excessive amounts of alcohol at 25.29%
