Loveland’s Next Phase of 4th Street Revitalization Means Another Traffic Closure

The big 4th Street project in Downtown Loveland will bring a lot of changes; to make those changes, the street has to shut down another section to traffic.

4th Street Project in Downtown Loveland to Close West End for 6+ Months

Loveland’s Heart Improvement Plan (HIP) began in February of 2025, and won’t be completed, weather permitting, until the summer of 2026. It began on the east end of the street, disrupting businesses and pedestrians, in the effort to make 4th Street better.

Downtown Loveland has a promotion during the construction, where if you upload your receipt from shopping anywhere in Downtown, you’ll be entered to win one of their weekly $100 gift cards to downtown.

The HIP project is anything but “hip” to the businesses that are dealing with the tearing up of the street. While there are not a lot of businesses on the east end of 4th, the one that are there have seen a dramatic drop in foot traffic. While that part of the project continues, the west end will see the same beginning May 12, 2025.

The City of Loveland will be closing 4th between Garfield and Railroad to motor traffic, for what could be eight months, but at least six at the minimum. Just like on the east end, they’ll be replacing water lines, improving/expanding the sidewalks, and installing parallel parking…
