Loveland City Council Holds Work Session On Homeless Shelters

Loveland City Council this week held a study session about updating development code standards on homeless shelters. The city’s unified development code, approved by the council last July, defines such facilities as providing “short-term, nonpermanent accommodation” to people experiencing homelessness, with or without accessory services, such as meals, transportation, counseling and other support. The Loveland Reporter Herald reports the code language also restricts shelters to the city’s business and industrial zones and includes four special standards, including opaque fencing and ownership by a governmental agency or nonprofit.
