Both directions of I-25 were closed north of Mead in Northern Colorado on Thursday morning after a crash involving two semis. The crash happened at 3:16 a.m. Thursday at mile marker 247, which is below the overpass for Weld County Road 38.
I-25 was closed in both directions from northbound Exit 243 Mead to southbound Exit 250 Berthoud.
Investigators with the Colorado State Patrol said that of those involved in the crash, one semi was traveling southbound and the other semi was traveling northbound. One Freightliner was hauling office supplies southbound on I-25 near mile marker 247 when it traveled to the right side of the road, striking a jersey barrier. Then the semi traveled to the left side of the road, striking the median jersey barrier.
Investigators said the Freightliner continued to travel into the northbound lane, hitting another semi that was hauling gasoline. The Freightliner then continued northbound and rolled onto its side, blocking both northbound and southbound lanes.
