New Law Uses AI to Help Keep Colorado Kids Safe
A new bill, HB 25-1230 has been signed into law that allows school districts to install artificial intelligence-powered cameras on school buses. The cameras will identify drivers, and their license plates when they pass a school bus illegally.
What Colorado Law Says About Passing School Buses
Colorado drivers can not pass a school bus when the bus has flashing lights and a stop sign out. Many drivers ignore the blatantly obvious sign to stop and speed around the bus This puts kids in danger.
AI Cameras Will Automatically Fine Colorado Drivers
School districts that opt-in will use Stop Guardâ„¢ AI School Bus Stop-Arm Enforcement Cameras. If drivers are caught going around school buses they will be automatically fined $300. School districts have the choice to opt in or out of the program.
Fines Go Back to Schools, Not Private Companies
