One Northern Colorado town could be seeing less of a blood sucking insect this summer. The Town of Windsor announced that they have partnered with Vector Disease Control International to develop a control program to assist in the mitigation of mosquitoes.
Mosquitoes will essentially be under surveillance this summer in Windsor by use of traps. These traps will monitor adult mosquitoes in the area, and field inspections will dictate pest control applications. If one of these traps catches 100 or more mosquitoes, the Town of Windsor will deploy the use of insect and pest control applications that will target mosquito larvae before they hatch.
This method of surveillance and control applications will be used through June to August. The Town of Windsor says that there are 14 surveillance traps strategically placed throughout the Northern Colorado town.’
