Wrong-way driver eluded state trooper before causing fatal crash on I-25 in Denver, police say

A wrong-way driver who eluded a state trooper in Weld County was later involved in a fatal crash that closed northbound I-25 early Sunday morning, according to Colorado State Patrol and the Denver Police Department.

At approximately 2:59 a.m., a Colorado State Patrol Trooper on northbound I-25 near milepost 243, close to Mead, encountered a grey Chrysler van traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, according to a news release from CSP.
