4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration to Occur June 21 at Longmont’s Roosevelt Park

For a fourth consecutive year, the Longmont community will come together to celebrate Juneteenth on Saturday, June 21 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Roosevelt Park. The celebration is free to attend and will feature food merchants, live entertainment, and local vendors.

Juneteenth is a national holiday that commemorates the end of slavery and the Emancipation Proclamation, celebrated annually on June 19. Juneteenth became a national holiday in 2021 but celebrations have dates back to 1866.

“Juneteenth marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebrates the rich heritage, resilience, and ongoing contributions of Black communities,” the Longmont Juneteenth celebration website states. “It’s a day to stand together, honor the past, Black resilience and build a future rooted in justice and unity. This will be a vibrant celebration of culture, freedom, and courageous beginnings. Join us for an inspiring day filled with delicious food, captivating live entertainment, special guests, and the warmth of community spirit. Let’s uplift Black voices, celebrate Black excellence, and stand together for progress.”…
