5 million live in area at-risk of apple-size hail, tornados, and 70 MPH gusts

A severe thunderstorm watch is underway for a large swath of Colorado, stretching into Wyoming and Nebraska, as well.

According to the National Weather Service, 5,281,457 people reside in the impacted area, including those in cities along the I-25 corridor like Denver, Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins. Aside from scattered gusts of wind that could reach up to 70 miles per hour, apple-size hail and tornados are a possibility. Apple-size hail has a diameter of about three inches.

The most severe of this weather is expected to be possible in the Eastern Plains region…
