Celebrate “freedom, resilience, and culture” as Juneteenth festivities return to Fort Collins on June 20-21.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates June 19, 1865 — the day around 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas, to announce that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people living in Texas were free by executive decree, according to the National Museum of African American History & Culture.
