Longmont joined communities across the United States in celebrating Black history, culture and resilience during Juneteenth.
Juneteenth is observed annually on June 19 to commemorate the end of slavery in the U.S. On Saturday, Longmont marked the holiday with a family-friendly festival in Roosevelt Park.
The festival was sponsored by the city of Longmont and organized by Longmont City Councilmember Shiquita Yarbrough. Yarbrough started the event in 2022, and the City Council sets aside funds for the event every year.
