Denver, Colorado – Gusty winds and elevated fire danger are gripping much of Colorado today, with Red Flag Warnings in effect for South Park and large portions of South Central and Western Colorado.
According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, wind gusts could reach 40 mph in the mountains and along the plains south of I-76 through late Sunday. In Denver and along the I-25 corridor northward, gusts are expected to top out between 20 and 30 mph. Although temperatures will remain above average, they won’t be quite as scorching as Saturday, especially in the high country where afternoon clouds may bring brief relief.
In the Eastern Plains, heat continues to intensify with highs nearing 98°F in Burlington and Wray, while Fort Morgan and Greeley hover in the low to mid-90s. The combination of dry air, heat, and wind has created critical fire weather conditions across the region…
