Strike ends at Fort Collins Safeways after company, union land on tentative deal

The strike is over at two Fort Collins Safeway stores.

Picket lines were pulled down at all striking Safeway and Albertsons stores, including the 1426 E. Harmony Road and 2160 W. Drake Road locations in Fort Collins on July 5, according to a post on UFCW Local 7’s Facebook page. Workers at both locations had voted to authorize a strike in mid-June, joining more than 30 other Safeways and Albertsons across Colorado, according to past Coloradoan reporting.

The union says it has reached a tentative agreement with Albertsons Companies, which acquired Safeway in 2015. The provisions of the agreement include wage increases, improved dental, vision and life insurance benefits, and no cuts to retiree health care benefits, according to UFCW Local 7’s Facebook post…
