We have featured Northern Colorado pets here for over a year. We have highlighted many amazing animals and are constantly in awe of the love that NOCO Humane provides for the animals in their care.
This Week’s Spotlight: The Heroes Behind the Scenes
This week’s Townsquare NoCo Pet of the Week presented by Camp Bow Wow is going to look a little different. This week, we are going to focus on the humans behind the scenes. We are going to talk about the amazing foster volunteers. Plus, we want you to know that NOCO Humane is seeking foster volunteers right now.
Why Fostering Pets in Northern Colorado Makes a Big Impact
Fostering animals is the ultimate way to give back to your community. It is your opportunity to give animals a safe and loving space while they wait to be adopted. It can allow animals to recover from an illness, surgery, or trauma in a calm environment. Being a foster volunteer also helps with overcrowding at NOCO Humane.
What Types of Animals Need Foster Care in Northern Colorado?
Here are the types of animals that will need fostering.
- Kittens and puppies.
- Bottle-babies in need of consistent care.
- Animals needing confidence or behavioral help and support.
- Adult pets recovering from surgery or illness.
Who Can Become a Foster Volunteer?
NOCO Humane tells us that foster volunteering is perfect for folks who love animals but can not commit long-term. You must be over 21 years old to be a foster caregiver. NOCO Humane also tells us that volunteers can be families, students, professionals, or seniors. They will pick pets that make sense with your availability.
NOCO Humane Supports Its Foster Volunteers
NOCO Humane is very supportive of their volunteers. Volunteers must commit to at least two fosters a year and must follow all medical and behavioral care guidelines. NOCO Humane is flexible and will work around your schedule as well as provide food, toys, medical care, and a kennel.
