Town of Mead awarded $1.36 million grant for Hwy 66 Pedestrian Crossing Project

July 18, 2025–The Town of Mead is proud to announce it has been awarded a $1,360,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Nonattainment Area Air Pollution Mitigation Enterprise (NAAPME) through its Community Clean Transportation Assistance Program (CCTAP). This vital funding supports the construction of the long-anticipated Pedestrian Trail and Underpass Project at the intersection of Colorado Highway 66 and Weld County Road 7. This transformational project, originally seeded by a federal design grant in 2019, aims to improve pedestrian safety, enhance community connectivity, and reduce air pollution by encouraging active modes of transportation. It’s a critical step in fulfilling the Town’s long-term vision of establishing a safe, continuous pedestrian connection to all three, and soon four, Mead schools, including Mead Elementary, Mead Middle School, and Mead High School…
