Whether sitting behind the wheel or watching from the curb, car enthusiasts came to Main Street this weekend to watch the coolest vehicles dominate downtown.
Saturday was Longmont’s annual “unofficial” cruise night — called that because cruising is banned in certain parts of the city. That doesn’t stop drivers from gathering every summer to partake in a night of cruising, a hobby that defined Longmont teen culture for decades.
Cruisers traveled up and down the length of Main Street, starting in the afternoon and ending around midnight. Johnny Chavez, president of local car club 303 Outlawz, said the organizers expected at least 2,000 cars to cruise along Main on Saturday.
