Fort Collins’ former Beavers Market may be getting a new (and familiar) owner

Changes may again be in store for Fort Collins’ oldest independent grocery store.

The Fort Collins Food Co-op is under contract to purchase Fresh Foods — formerly known as Beavers Market — at 1100 W. Mountain Ave., the co-op confirmed in a news release July 29.

The news comes three years after Beavers Market was sold to independent grocery store chain Fresh Foods and roughly four months after a sign was briefly posted in the store’s window indicating it was for sale. Ben Dishman, the owner of Fresh Foods, did not respond to the Coloradoan’s inquiries about the “for sale” sign earlier this year or the recent news of its potential sale to the food co-op as of 3:15 p.m. July 29…
