Boulder County Fair’s lassos in a Mexican Rodeo, a visually stunning spectacle of culture, tradition

From labor to competition, escaramuza to charro, charreria culture is alive in Colorado and will bring centuries-old tradition to the grounds of the Boulder County Fair with a Mexican Rodeo Fiesta.

Charreria, or Mexican rodeo, is the national sport of Mexico and a precursor to the American rodeo. The charreria has lent a great deal of inspiration to the American West with traditions in bull riding, equestrian events and livestock herding.

The event returns to Longmont, with much flair in tow, to the Boulder County Fairgrounds, 9595 Nelson Road, at 2 p.m. Aug. 10. The Mexican Rodeo Fiesta will display a vast variety of Mexican culture accompanied by vibrant elements via costumes, mariachi music, traditional dance and horseback riding.
