An eviction turned into a 13-hour standoff with multiple Northern Colorado law enforcement agencies and left parts of west Fort Collins under a shelter in place order Aug. 7.
Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to serve a court-ordered eviction at a home in the 2600 block of Laporte Avenue around 9:20 a.m. Aug. 7 when the occupant of the home, a 55-year-old man, refused to come outside, according to a news release from the agency.
When deputies entered the home, the man pointed a gun at them, according to the release. Deputies took cover outside and called for additional resources, which included the Larimer County All-Hazards Crisis Response Team; Fort Collins SWAT team; crisis negotiators; drone operators; UCHealth EMS; Poudre Fire Authority; and officers from the Fort Collins, Colorado State University, Johnstown and Timnath police departments…
