Colorado Man Dies in High-Speed Las Vegas Parking Lot Crash

A Colorado man is dead after an SUV crashed into a block wall in a Las Vegas parking lot last night, according to News 3 Las Vegas. The incident was reported just before 8:40 p.m. in the shopping center parking lot at E. Tropicana Avenue and McLeod Drive, in what police are calling a high-speed crash that turned deadly.

Investigators believe a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban rapidly accelerated through the lot and into a block retaining wall, as reported by News 3 Las Vegas. The driver, identified as a 29-year-old man from Fort Collins, Colorado, was not wearing a seatbelt. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to 8 News Now, the car had traveled through the parking lot at a “high rate of speed” and crashed into the wall on the south side of the property. The man was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.

Investigation Status

LVMPD says his death will not be counted as a traffic-related fatality until the Clark County Coroner’s Office rules on the cause and manner of death, according to News 3 Las Vegas. The collision remains under investigation.
